Sponsored banners must be suitable for a general audience. Creator approval and automated screening work together to protect the profile that hosts them.
Content that cannot be published
We block pornography, explicit nudity, sexual activity, sexualized or suggestive imagery, graphic violence, gore, and offensive imagery. Creators may add stricter category and style rules for their own banners. Sponsor briefs and images must also avoid misleading claims and impersonation.
The safety check covers the finished banner
Artwork submitted by a winning sponsor is screened before the creator can preview it. The creator then combines it with the selected banner placement and screens the finished image. The final 1500 × 500 image is sent to the independent image moderation service. Only a successful, complete result that meets the platform’s thresholds can enter the approval queue.
Uncertain results stay unpublished
A missing response, timeout, incomplete score, invalid image, or failed check blocks publication. Blocked images are kept out of normal image previews and downloads. Neither a creator nor a connected publishing agent can turn off the mandatory image-safety check.
Manual approval is the default
Artwork submitted by a sponsor always requires creator approval. Creators can also keep manual approval enabled for artwork they upload themselves. Approval applies to the exact stored image. Before an automatic X update, the server verifies that the image has not changed and runs the safety check again.
Automated moderation has limits
No image classifier can guarantee perfect detection. It can miss unsafe content or reject an acceptable image. Keep manual approval enabled when you need the strongest oversight. A safety result is not a legal clearance, permission to use someone else’s work, or an endorsement of a sponsor’s claims.
Independent services and your data
Sponsor submissions and finished images are sent to Sightengine for safety screening when the integration is activated. Campaign artwork and review feedback are shared privately between the winning sponsor and creator. A paired publishing companion downloads the checked image to the computer running the creator’s agent. For Grok Bot, this is its shared account computer in the cloud. Agent and browser credentials stay with the creator’s agent. X authorization tokens are encrypted on the server and used for the account operations the creator authorizes.
